Sun Acquired By Oracle
Sun Microsystems is doing its business since 1984. This multi-national vendor deals with computer components to IT services and is a major source of open source software.
After the failure of deal with IBM, Sun has made a successful deal with the Oracle Corporation. It is surprising to see the difference between both the deals offered by Sun and the Oracle is a mere $0.10 per share.
Though it is not the exact reason, the decreased offer of IBM from $10 to $9.40 per share, play a significant role in the failure of deal between the Sun and the IBM. Just after two weeks of the end of these talks, Oracle deliberately approached the Sun with a $9.50 per share deal. In addition, it worked.
The total value of the transaction of this
acquisition is $7.4 billion. The deal also gives the Oracle, the possession of
MySQL database acquired by The Sun Microsystems, the previous year for $1
billion.
